Are they the Southdown Hills in the background?

Re: Challenge: Where is this? IV
A bit too far West! It is the other stone in them that hills! The bay is named after the town where many buildings are constructed using salvaged stone from London, brought back after making deliveries of the new stuff which was used in many famous buildings in the capital.Originally posted by veggiesosage View PostIs it Portland Harbour?

Yes. This is Swanage, and the stone that was shipped to London is Purbeck stone. There are some ornate entrances in the town made from the salvage from London buildings that were demolished.Originally posted by Andrew Riddell View PostIs it Swanage (and the Purbeck quarries)?

Re: Challenge: Where is this? IV
I was wondering if it were Swanage (he says after the event!) but couldn't just bring the name to mind. Old age!Stephen
Just take it easy. There's always tomorrow. And if tomorrow doesn't come, you won't have wasted any effort on it.

Re: Challenge: Where is this? IV
Thanks, Kurt. I'm thinking about the next one!
BTW, the best bit of salvage is the entrance to the Swanage Town Hall, which was originally the entrance to Mercers' Hall in Cheapside (demolished c.1883) and designed by Edward Jerman just after the Great Fire.
