      Pol,

As you can see our's is in a pot on the patio - so it must look very small compared with your 31 year old Acer which a fox can creep under. However, our Acer has been almost completely stripped of its leaves by winds during the past two days. It is amazing to see how red the leaves become just as they are about to fall in the autumn.

        Tom,

A superb image. I like the contrast of the sunlit leaves against the dark background.

          Ray.
I was just discussing this with David (my husband) and we think ours was probably not much bigger than yours when we moved into this house. It was in the front garden, rather lost behind other plants so we transferred it into a space where it could grow the back garden.

The other plants and shrubs have spread but the Acer has also held it's own and flourished. It seems to like it there and it's too big to move now anyway so there it stays.

I've just grabbed a TZ10 and taken a snapshot of it from the window as the garden is sodden (just had a deluge again).

Here it is still in all its glory - still orange/green and with most of its leaves. I suppose it must be approximately 35 years old in total. Water bath and feeder pole gives some idea of scale.

            Pol,

Thanks for showing your Acer. It must be 2-3 times larger than ours but it is obviously very comfortable in amongst the shrubs and trees. The slow growth is quite a bonus in my opinion. Several of our shrubs and trees are getting too large to trim with ease - so a slow growing shrub is very welcome. I shall ask my wife to see if she wishes to put the Acer in the Garden.

            Regards.

            Ray.

From the office door a couple of hours ago. Another beautiful sky as the crane crawled by.

Just because cliches are cliches does not make them wrong. I do like walking in the rain.

None of the plans we had for today worked out so we ended up driving in the countryside and saw this at an old derelict house. Looked in the door, trash from one end to the other and didn't notice the notice on side of door.
