Sorry, no. It is quite a small object, about 5 cm long.

              Neither.

Here is a picture of the result of using the object

The description of the object: it is a curved metal plate with holes, 5 cm long, of almost oval shape.

I'm none the wiser Svetlana, my next guess would have been a peeler or grater but looking at the image above it cannot be that.

What if I say that the more commonly used alternative for using this object for making xxx are xxx bags? "xxx" is on the last picture.

I don't think I can be more obvious without actually naming it.

Is it a tea strainer, used when pouring water over a tea bag?

Very close, but not exactly. It is not for tea bags and it is not a strainer, although the physics behind both is the same. It is something to use when you have loose tea and want just one cup of tea.
Remember, that you cannot use it on its own, only with another object - probably almost always them two are sold together.

Yes! Or to be more precise, part of a tea brewing spoon. It can be used only with a teaspoon. I've seen a few different designs. In this one you put tea leaves in a teaspoon and slide that part to close. Then just put it in your cup and add boiling water.

Does anyone know if it has a name?

Thanks Svetlana, we got there in the end. I think a tea brewing spoon is a correct name, also called a tea infuser. I looked on Google images, there are many designs of tea infusers. You've given me the idea to buy one then I can use loose tea instead of bags

I'll post the next image later.

                                Geoff.
