Fortnightly Salon Competition No. 19 - The Summertime
Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No. 19 - The Summertime
Hi all,
Work's been keeping me busy during the week and re-enactment's been keeping me busy at weekends so I've not managed to visit here as much as I'd like. It has also curtailed my ambitions of taking some pictures to match the competition themes so I'm afraid it's another one from the archive this time:
I've called it dropped ('cause he was) but the sound of leather on willow makes Summer for me (although this year it's more the sound of rain splashing in puddles .

Hi Gina,
Beautiful yellow rose. I find yellow roses a particularly hard subject, I always seem to blow the highlights or end up too under exposed with not enough lee way to recover the shot.
I almost submitted a rose (pink) for the competition but opted for something different in the end. I've taken to not viewer the entries until I have submitted mine so I wont be put off by the competition.

Hi Audrey,
Great minds or fools? I'm not sure .
I love the way the crowd (if 5 people can be a crowd) are all intently watching where the ball must be . My picture was a very tight crop to remove disinterested people (and a much more boring backlground).
I hope the rest of the beach is a bit more sandy than the bit he's standing on or else he won't have much use for his bucket and spade .
Vernon
He's standing on the top of a small dune above the beach and near the carpark. I can assure you he had plenty sand to play with. In truth he was waiting patiently for his little lad, a feisty little toddler who was having a temper tantrum further along.
That's a cracking picci you've posted of the Cricket - right on theme too!
Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No. 19 - The Summertime
I did post something I took a couple of years ago on a summer trip to France.... because I hadn't had time to go out and take something pretty. Then it started raining ago, so I thought - why not show it how it REALLY is this year?
Hopefully you'll be able to see the rain lashing down..... I did take another of the rain in the puddles outside my back door, but couldn't get the foliage right - too overexposed and now the camera's out of battery
