That's a brilliant idea. We do get loads of birds here feeding and I have great difficulty trying to get close to them before they take off. Zooming through the window has produced some results but they even see me moving indoors. My Sony video camera seems to produce better quality shots through glass than my Lumix camera. Have a remote camera release but never get around to setting it up. Must try harder as they used to put on my school reports.Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. I think I read somewhere that collared doves are relatively new to the UK and were not very common as recently as 50 years ago? About half a dozen visit the feeder in my garden most days, accompanied by a couple of fat wood pigeons - they are too big for feeders so that wait underneath for the scraps

He was looking for Shepherdsgrove Industrial site and came onto Shepherdsgrove retirement park where I live. I ask you do mobile homes look like factories? Spent the night there sinking deeper and deeper. He said he tried to turn round and ended up on a wast bit of ground opposite my home. Took them 3 hours to dig and pull his lorry out. Helped us pass the time away watching them.Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

I spent last weekend covering a heavy metal/death metal music festival in Birmingham in a fog of pain due to tooth and earache (which wasn't helped by constantly having to wear earplugs). It turned out to be the abscess from hell: I left the festival on Sunday night looking like a hamster and then trying to find an emergency dentist on Monday who could fit me in. You know it's bad when they ask if they can show the studentsManaged to go to work on Tues/Weds but by then the antibiotics had kicked in and I slept for almost 18 hours straight so only now starting to process the images for the review. The lighting can be a challenge at festivals, and this one was worse than most. The lad on the second stage was 'let go' on the Saturday night, stage 3 was tiny but good and the main stage was... variable. The 'deathier' the band, the darker the lighting. Luckily this band (Blitzkrieg) are old rock stalwarts, so the lighting was excellent.

We call it Corduroy Snow. After the groomers do their stuff. Great for making carving turns on skis or snowboards. If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.
