I think it may be design challenge. I seem to remember a flying saucer like structure when walking from Lancaster Gate to meet my daughter at the RCA last year.
Correct, Andy. It's the 2010 pavilion designed by Jean Nouvel. Last year's was a sort of hessian bagel!

The Open Air Theatre is a fixture. this only appears for a few months. Also, different park (but still central).

I recall there being a lot of RED one year, but can't remember where or when

Billed as a ‘dynamic programme of arts and design interventions into the urban landscape,’ Aldgate Experiments looks to bring ‘the streets of Aldgate to life.’

Graham, your first suggestion is interesting, but it would never get planning permission!

Your second suggestion is getting there.

    Thunderbird 3 repair facility

    OR:

One of those "Art" installations, such as the Turner Prize exhibits.

Clue time? This (or something like it) appears for a few months each year. This was not last year's!

OK, here's the next. It's strictly 'where was this'!

Thanks, Kurt. It was a process of elimination really, as the Swanage line seemed to be the only one west of the Watercress using Southern rolling stock (instead of GWR).

I'm still looking for the next one!
