Re: Jolly Boys (and Girls) Outing to Lake District

These are really nice, both the photos and the pp. The pp effectively and successfully created another attractive/imaginary world. Of course, I know that even without pp these pics, this one and others you already uploaded, are excellent.
It is for me fresh and surprising news that HDR is not a Must in order to creat this kind of effets.

I've been agonising over this one - added some vignette (first time experimenting with this for me) and I wonder if it's too dark?

Brilliant Andrew, I reckon this treatment works very well considering the conditions at the time. Must try one myself

This shot taken from the same area but in Landscape is a little warmer and was taken from a lower angle therefore emphasising the foreground. The parts are the same but in a different order
Don't like this anywhere near as much as the protrait.
To much rock and not enough scene, it's also lost that artistic look which I liked so much.

Fair enough Pops, I'm glad you liked the Portrait version though, I've actually tweaked that version a little now to give it a little more punch which I felt it lacked.

I feel that there are two photographs here Ian. The top one, on its own, does not really work for me, it doesn't seem to be in focus. However, the bottom one has more to offer. As it is, I don't like the water falling half way through the picture. The lightness, drags my eye to it, making it seem like two pics.

When I scroll to show the top half, there is insufficient focus to hold my attentiion, but if you scroll to show just the water and the submerged tree, it seems pin sharp and it more interesting -just my opinion, you understand. I like the pp of the bottom half.

This is great, and despite the rumours your all not so scary afterall
Ide loved to have been there, but would have most definatley been the tea boy rather than a member of the team!
If anybody plans anything like this in west yorkshire then ide love to attend.
thanks for sharing guys & girls.
                  Ash.

Re: Jolly Boys (and Girls) Outing to Lake District

I have been waiting a while before posting a comment as you all seem to have quite a few excellent images to post.
I know the area quite well as I was born not far from there and still have family around there and have walked the Lakes alot.
What has been interesting is how each has a different interpretation of the visit. Each photographer style has become more evident within the forum that the identitiy of the photographer is almost possible to determine from the photograph alone...................well almost
I can not pick out any indvidual photographs as they are all such a high standard and like others I sit here with a tinge of envy that I was unable to make the journey................maybe next time folks
                    regards
                    Mike

Like this one a lot Stephen. Nice work.

Wahooooo fantastic shot. Really like what you have done to this. The toning, crop and camera position are great. Wondered what you had been doing up that mound, I never went up I'm also still looking for some inspiration from the ones I took there.

                                It was mid-week

We're thinking of a west country jaunt next, looking for some rugged coastline and some boulders

Mike Parr has suggested some places on the North Cornwall coast. We could also take in some views on Bodmin moor and some other places. Tin mines come to mind too...
