At last lockdown has been announced: about time, especially after the events of the weekend. I had hoped to be able to go over to Canons Ashby to walk in the gardens there, but as they're National Trust they were closed due to overcrowding. The same goes for Daventry Country Park - as people haven't been maintaining a reasonable distance, the park has been closed.

I'd heard rumours of military movements too - and had also heard from someone high up in the NHS that lockdown was nearing so shot out this afternoon to top up the shopping as we were getting low on milk and bread. Our local Co-Op has been low on stock the past couple of visits, so trekked the 10 miles to Banbury. Had to visit a couple of supermarkets but now set for a good week or two, hopefully.

My children in France and Spain both videocalled me for Mother's Day. No cards or presents this year, they're non-essential shopping (and fair enough).

Not fishing for compliments but it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm alrady getting lots of birthday greetings from my relatives in the Philippines - it's very heart warming. In many ways we are very fortunate to have communications technology to keep in touch

And of course we have each other here

I have been quite busy in the last few weeks but I can see a lot more free time coming up so I am going to focus more on ideas for the forums. I hinted at Garry's cannibal insects thread that many of us might have to resort to macro to discover interesting images around the house or the garden - nothing wrong with that!

So from midnight today Guernsey is on lock down with the same rules as you in the uk were given last night. We now have 23 confirmed cases. What has made the lock down is the sign of the first community seeding. We are a small Island of 63,000 and with one hospital no means of sending anybody 30 miles up the road if we had to many cases (if they did that they would be in the English Channel) We have been told tonight this will last at least 14 days but could easily go to 28 days

I tend to think the lock down for you and us, will be a lot longer than the times stated. Stay safe over there !

I agree Garry 14 days is just not to scare people to much easily see it going 28

Ian - Many Happy Returns Young Man!

The Governor of Vermont just issued a lockdown. Our little town has two confirmed cases and one has died. Penny and I are working on a "Non-Travel" video for our Travel Channel.
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

We're on lockdown in Vermont. Here's what we're doing to avoid cabin fever.

Fabulous video. Bit of a dab hand with the snooker cue then!

Some good ideas from both your wife and you.
