Ben, my wife and Autumn on this site, both have a similar model, and have been very pleased with them, these little Panasonics are definitely to be recommended
Ian, have you ever had an opportunity to try one of those Kaiser LCD shades?
I'm tempted to grab one and keep it handy in the Leica bag, though I wouldn't want it attached permanently.
Pol
Hi Pol
I had one of those flip up shades on my 40D. Got rid of it, I didn't get on with it. Truth to tell I found it a nuisance and not that affective at shading the screen.
Sold it on ebay.

Yes, actually mine is the FX01, and it is in my handbag all the time.
Today we had our 5 year old grandson for the day and I took 61 pics of him - at the playground, fishing, in McDonalds in the garden. Too easy! The results are great.
I have had competition winners with mine and they have only been grab shots.
Unfortunately it does not have an optical viewer, but I do seem to manage OK without it as the LCD screens seem to be brighter than when digital cameras first came out.
It is also quite wide angled and has different aspects at which you can take your pics like the old APS cameras.
No the one I had was a Delkin, I seem to remember it was secured via the view finder, it was camera specific and duplicated all the control buttons that were covered so the camera could be used as normal.
What I found irritating and you could say it to be my own fault, is that after viewing my images I would forget to close the hood and then try and look through the viewfinder only to potential scratch my face (not that it was sharp) with the cover.
My main reason for purchasing it was for screen protection, I feel these larger 3 inch viewing screens are more vulnerable than the old small ones.
I am now looking at one of these made of toughened optical glass.
You may very well be more disciplined than I was and use it properly.
OK, bought one!
After so many comments saying that the viewfinders are rarely used, I decided to risk it. I have bought a Samsung SL202. Sadly only available in the shop in PINK! The missus likes it though! lol
My first impressions seem quite favourable, I particularly like the fact that you can record a memo to a photo, useful for tagging moments on holiday.
The video performance seems good. Very low light shots without flash and using the image stabilisation are pretty poor though.
I hasten to add that I havent downloaded anything yet onto the computer, this was just a very quick play last night after purchasing from Currys.
For 89quid, I am not expecting much, its just something that I can chuck in my pocket and be able to capture any moments when I dont have my trusty SLR or video camera.
I am sure I will be uploading a few piccies soon so you can see how it performs.
Thanks again for all the help and advice, it really was appreciated. In the end, I didnt want to risk not getting the delivery from Amazon, else I would have definatly gone for the Panasonic.
