  • I dropped my camera. :-(

I dropped my camera this morning, on to the road. The camera body seems to be okay thankfully, apart from a couple of scratches. The lens, though, is behaving weirdly!

It's an 18-135mm lens, and at about 100mm it now suddenly 'clicks' and goes out of focus. The autofocus is really struggling too. Because I'm stupid I don't have it insured for accidental damage, so I suppose it's new lens time.

So I'm now in the market for a new lens! The camera is a Nikon D80, the lens I've broken is an AF-S Nikkor 18-135mm. It was the kit lens that came with the camera, but I really liked it! Any suggestions as to what replacement I should go for? I want about the same focal range, and I don't mind paying a few hundred quid for something decent. This time, though, I'm getting it insured!

Check your home contents insurance. Most cover "accidental damage" to personal property

Have you thought of having it repaired, Nikon I'm sure will do It.
I know when I dropped by Canon 75-300 some years back, Canon repaired it.
Cant say about Nikon but Canon have a single price repair policy however big or small the job.
Nikon may have the same thing.

I think this is a good lens of its genre, so don't worry

Looking forward to some results from it!

I suspect if you Google for Camera equipment insurance in the Philippines, you will find plenty of companies that do it.
