Awesome creatures...... heres a couple of other shots of a Cheetah

The funny thing about this magnificent creature as well, is, that because it is a youngster, it doesnt 'roar' it mews like a little pussy cat, in fact my little burmese is louder. Reason is because it is young, when it makes a noise, it wont scare any prey off.

I absolutely adore the first shot...looks like anticipation of dinner coming its way!
Second is superb too with full eye contact. Cheetahs are so much smaller than the stocky leopard.

Weather permitting, I'll be back at Colchester Zoo one day next week. It appears the have an extremely rare & endangered Amur Leopard there. (Formerly known as Siberian but apparently Siberia as a place name doesn't exist now apparently!?).

One website I found estimated that there are unfortunately only 35 or so individuals left in the wild. Colchester Zoo are hoping to get a mate for their male and to breed from them.

So, not exactly from your neck of the woods Lou, but a Leopard none the less. I'll make sure it's on my list.

They are absolutely gorgeous - my fav antelope by far. Forgot to explain that the egret has what is known as a "symbiotic" relationship with many of the bigger antelope and things like buffalo and even hippo and elephant on occassion. While these animals may flick flies away with their tails they will allow these birds to ride for hours on their backs for the simply reason that their hides get a dry clean on the move by doing so and in return the birds get a free meal consisting of delicacies such as ticks and other parasitic bugs that feed off the animals.

BTW Lourens in all the hours that I have spent in African game parks I have not yet seen a leopard - cheetah often but never a leopard and that's becuase they tend to be nocturnal and we never used to be allowed out of the camps at night. Like your pics but can't ID the first.
