    Re: photo problem

Out of interest, what are the actual pixel dimensions of the image you are trying to print?

i think i realise the problem, i played about with the image in photoshop, then cropped it nearly square shape , then of course it will not fit on to the 3/2 format,,,,, i,ll be more careful in future,,,, john

John, first of all I wouldn't recommend printing to 10x8 at that resolution. Not really enough pixels.

Your image is more square than a 10x8, so either you have white borders at the shorter sides or you can have a borderless print, but with the longer sides trimmed.

But you say that the top has been lopped off. Is anything lost at the opposite side as well?

no nothing lost on the sides far as i can see but a bit has been chopped off the bottom also, jesssops machine does not do a 10x8 but the 9x6 came out very acceptable... think i,ll stick to that size limit in future

what did surprise me was, although done at the same time, the 6x4 had better skin tones i thought a bit warmer than the 9x6 would the stretching of the picture or pixels have anything to do with that, or would it be the inconsistancy of the machine,,

                  Re: photo problem/Kodak Printer

                  John,

I have the more expensive of the two new Kodak printers. It has 2 slots for memory cards. When the Kodak Company claims that it will print 3times as many 4x6 prints as any other consumer printer on the market they are understating that truth! I believe that I have surpassed that limit and still have 1/4 of my ink left! The print quality is above average. The only thing I found difficult is when you get a paper jam .The one time it happened I opened the easy access door on the back of the printer but still found the paper difficult to remove. I believe there should be some sort of paper feed button to help get the paper out.I give it a 3& 1/2 stars out of 4! I do not know what the secret is but none of the quality is compromised to save ink.
I hope this helps you somewhat in your decision.

Just read the whole thread, and it sounds like you have now sussed it, however, have you tried an online service such as Photobox?

I find them to be excellent, pictures normally arrive within a couple of days, and very easy to use. They even have the facility to allow a white border to compensate for any discrepencies in aspect ratio.

The new Kodaks have been released first in the USA. I'm hoping to get my hands on one here soon.

I have been to a technical workshop using pre-production units and I was quite impressed with the print quality, with only a few caveats: there is some bronzing on the gloss paper and the 'shine' of the gloss paper is not as good as some other pigment ink printers from Epson and HP. But overall, a pretty good offering.
