unfortunately ian, it was on when i dropped it , have tried starting it up with the mains lead in no joy
i only want to recover the pics as i`ve orderred a p 3000

Your only chance would be to remove the internal hard drive and see of that is intact. You may need to use a professional data recovery service to do this.
