    Re: Where Am I?

Oh Dear, I didn't know I had to do it!

You'll have to wait a bit. I can't remember how to load the images let alone find one!

            Re: Where Am I?

You are right Rab. I also saw it on something like Amazing hotels on the TV.

I have to say that we weren't staying there. Actually, although the Guide talked a lot about it and it was on TV, it didn't really impress me from the outside and it was difficult to photograph.

            Over to you.

              Re: Where Am I?

Thanks Autumn. It was BBC 2 Amazing Hotels: Life beyond the lobby.

I've bee trawling my archive for something that might take a bit to work out. (my last efforts haven't proved too difficult) and this I hope is it...

Crikey ! No guesses yet ?

It isn't a sculpture that I am familiar with.

I'm guessing its in Europe. Yes ?

Nope, not the Angel of Peace.
                    It is in Europe though.

                      Re: Where Am I?

I think it is Victoria Goddess of Victory (aka Nike) and have seen a picture of this sculpture somewhere but can't place it.

Yes it is a sculpture of Victoria, Goddess of Victory but the question is where?
(There are a number of examples of which Audrey's suggestion is one)

These are too easy. I posted a black and white shot to make it more difficult too. I thought most people would go for the better known examples - atop the Brandenberg Gate or the Arc de Triomphe which are also of the roman Goddess of Victory, Victoria on her Quadriga - a chariot drawn by 4 horses but both of those carry Laurel leaf wreaths - this one does not.

I've seen this all over the world and many places have banned it because of the difficulties it causes in maintenance.
