Re: Post your panos here (warning horizontal scrolling)
Have not done one of these in a long time but gave it a try today.I know it not straight in the middle will have to try and sort that out anybody give me some tips on how. This was made up of 18 photos a bit over the top I guess. In the full size version you can see 2 paragliders.

Re: Post your panos here (warning horizontal scrolling)
Peter, It's possible to correct the wavy horizon in the image as presently stitched, but you would lose a lot when you crop to a neat rectangle and end up with a long thin image. You really need to correct the horizon during stitching. Exactly how you would do that depends very much on what program you use to stitch the images together. It may be that the camera was tilted up or down. This can result in wavy horizons if the stitcher doesn't like you doing that. Programs like PTGui, Hugin, Autopano Pro can cope quite happily.

Re: Post your panos here (warning horizontal scrolling)
Hi John
I use CS3 for this pan, I did have the camera on a tripod but it was on the beach in soft sand so not the best base. I have tried these type of things before in CS2 but they did not work half as well as it did today CS3. Will try again over the next few days to sort things out.

Hi Pete, 18 pictures seems an awful lot for the space taken in the picture and I would guess is probably the reason for the bend in the middle. I got a panorama stitcher from Serif a little while ago and it does a very good job.

Hi Mo
I am working on another as I type this now. Cs3 does this like no other program I have seen it just cuts out the bits it needs. Some layers are really small jagged edges I will have to show you.

I have not posted a Pano before mainly because I haven't done any, well I have developed an interest, so here is my first effort. 5 images stitched in PTGui. I am experimenting with HDR pano's
I have found Pano's quite addictive.
Incidentally this was not HDR, It was made on Barr Beacon near Birmingham

I had a go at straightening the panorama with PTGui. (I hope you don't mind). The horizon is much improved but you do lose a lot of height. CS3 is a lot better than CS2, but it doesn't offer the level of control that you have with PTGui.

Re: Post your panos here (warning horizontal scrolling)
Thanks John
That looks so much better. I also have had another go with a few other shots that I took this afternoon. This one uses 13 shots but not such a wide view.

Re: Post your panos here (warning horizontal scrolling)
Peter, That still has the arching horizon. A useful tip for judging the horizon is to imagine cameras on tripods on the distant shores. All the cameras (including the real camera) will be the same height above water level and should therefore lie on the straight line of the horizon in a cylindrical panorama. Using PTGui again to remap the image gives:
