Re: Christmas 2016 photo challenge!
There was a charity 'Santa Dash' this morning and I did see all the participants gathering in their identical santa outfits, but sadly I was behind the wheel at the time!
Later on this afternoon I just spotted this opportunity for a rather abstract and very over-processed smartphone shot. You might also be able to see the decorated tree I featured in an earlier shot in the distance.

Re: Christmas 2016 photo challenge!
Last week I went with a group of Flickr friends to the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham - our second visit. Personally, I think with 8 people in the group it was too big: we seemed to spend a lot of time waiting around whilst someone popped in a shop/went to the loo/disappeared. What was interesting was how differently we "saw" things, and although some of the pictures we took were similar, how we also went and took vastly different things. All (bar one) were taken with a Canon 5d3 with my "walkaround" lens - 24/105 f4.
Here's a selection from the day:
The Christmas Pudding bull at the entrance to the Bullring Shopping Centre (we all came in by train from various places - from Reading to Manchester, and one member travelled from Germany)
The food stalls were clustered at the beginning of the market, but at the time we arrived it was a bit early to start snacking - bored vendor
Christmas candles:
Santas:
Finally, one taken from the Secret Garden of the Central Library and looking out over the market and the city: lots of redevelopment going on still. This was taken with my LG Nexus 5X (a Googlephone) and edited in Snapseed
