I must admit that occasionally and I do mean very occasionally I enjoy one of their pasties.

Quince - well done, I didn't think of that and we have a bush with some on in the front garden.

No fancy quince this time; Q is for Quiche - specially selected and freshly hand-photographed on my phone this evening!

Haha! I didn't see that - it was on the previous page of the thread; much nicer than my Quiche, anyway

R for raspberry. The very last of this autumn's crop.

              S is for Sashimi!

Nothing cooked there Taken last time I was in Japan, this was in a restaurant in Osaka in the summer of 2013.

Incidentally, Sushi is not necessarily raw fish and always comes with rice.

How do they make the fish look happy? It has a big smile on its face.

I had just taken this for S about 4 hours ago when we had a power cut. Just back about 30 mins ago.

S is for Sambal and Satay.

                    Hope you don't mind.

EEK. I love hot spicy things. When I'm in the Netherlands which I tend to be a couple of times a year, Indonesian restaurants are a must.

T is for Turmeric, a spice that scientists are now saying suppresses the activity of genes liked to cancer-causing inflammation, though it needs to be consumed in food rather than supplements for best effect. Another excuse for a curry then

I'd ask my wife to make an upside down pineapple cake today but she's substitute teaching.

                                U for umami

Soy sauce is also rich in umami components. Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/), a savory taste, is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness).
