Re: Post shots you took today!

Today the Barking Photographic Society was supporting the Barking Learning Centre, by providing a walk-in workshop where people could ask anything they like about photography and we would do our best to provide an answer...

In answering a question about slow shutter speeds, I produced the following shots. As everyone was fairly static, I showed how an image taken at 1/10s can result in reasonably sharp results.

Who would have thought that our oldest member would exhibit motion blur

Turning to a small group that were being shown dance steps, I used 1/8s to demonstrate motion blur, with a static element and the ability to hand hold at slow shutter speeds.

It always helps to have a good IS system working for you when doing such demonstrations and my little Olympus E-PL1 often impresses people, with the results it produces.

Graham - your first photo is dying to be put through DxO ViewPoint - would you mind if I did?

              Thanks Ian, please do so!

I've not looked at what DxO ViewPoint is or what it can do, so will be very interesting.

As you may have already determined, I was using the 9-18mm MFT Lens, hence the perspective shifts (and it was a grab shot)

I just can't get to sorting my photographs the same day. Perhaps someone should start a thread: Where I went this week!! Here's one from my wanderings:

Japanese Garden at Kingston Lacy, Dorset. (You won't find this on your new Apple maps!!)

I like this too, but am still looking for the hidden meaning.

Kurt, to me it is man versus the unknown, setting off for a new world armed only with their wits. Stretching now, but it could be a manned rocket starting into space.

                          Me too.

At first I thought it was 'West Arm Rider' (over on www.fourthirds-user.com) going fishing and taking a companion as look out for the bears and eagles.

Thanks, yes I see it. I should have given it more thought. They are travelling from the light to the dark. Excellent title!

Saw that little one growing on a tree - should probably go back with tripod to improve it a bit.
