Sorry, no. But the thing does cover something.

Is it part of the locking mechanism on a lens cap?

Yes, it is! It is a "reverse" of a Tamron lens cap.

        Well done! Over to you.

Here is another one. Nothing to do with photography but should be easy.

                Re: Macro challenge - reloaded!

Thanks Dennis, ah it's only because I'm office bound (most of the time) and occasionally work with paper

I'll have a quick think and hopefully put an image later this evening

                  OK here goes.
A little clue to start off, this moves amazingly fast....

Good guess Eddie, I can see why you might think that but it's not a grinding disc.

Edit: Without hopefully giving too much away the fast motion is over very short distances.

Is it part of a bicycle wheel showing the tyre. John

Hello John, I can see the similarity with a wheel rim and tyre but no I'm afraid it's a fair bit smaller than that. Good guess though

Afraid not Eddie but you're in the right ball park for the size but not the motion.
Think about another type of motion rather than rotary, there you go... slipped in another clue

Here's another image, narrow DOF but your imagination will join the dots (that's not a clue btw)

The next clue is... cycles per second.

                                Regards Huw
