Hmmmmm. It actually looks a bit like the University of Western Australia buildings in Perth - nice campanile.

Am I right in thinking that the bit that looks like a baked Alaska on the right is a chapel?

Ah, I see I've been beaten to Osborne House - that was what I was working towards

Should have had the courage of my convictions.

Well, 'my suspicions' might have been better.

That looks a lot like an 'old' shot of the Roundhouse - scene of various artistic experiences of mine in the 1970s - late 1980s.

Not all of which it's comfortable to remember...

Ah yes your right but not an old shot it was taken yesterday

I was born round the corner from here off of Queens crescent. Yesterday was a walk about to remember.
I moved from this area when I was 2 years old so cannot remember living there.
Saw lots of bands at the Roundhouse in the 1970's and 80's so probably was at one of those "artistic experiences".
My Grandfather was a train driver here when it was an engine shed.

                Over to you.

One particularly 'memorable' evening involved a performance of Oscar Wilde's 'Salome' by the Lindsay Kemp Dance Company - I'm pleading innocence, on grounds of having a particularly artistic girlfriend at that time.

Isn't the web wonderful - here are some tattered reminiscences of that production:

Fragments are all you get with this one, unfortunately, but how tantalising they are. Lindsay Kemp’s 1975 stage production of Oscar Wilde’s play was probably the queerest there’s …

Anyway, where were we - try this:

Hmmm, a strange arrangement of boats on the roof, at first I thought they were helium balloons but they appear to be connected to each other by rigid stays - could be a novelty bar or restaurant near the sea. Tropical plants so not this country! What we can see of the building seems to be a little too utilitarian for a bar/restaurant but it also looks fairly modern so, bearing in mind the boats, it could be a gallery featuring contemporary art, possibly but not necessarily near the coast. Other than that not really much to go on.

Yes, all good so far, Mr Holmes!

I'll leave this a little while before giving a clue, because if anyone's been to this place I'm sure they'll remember it, and if not there are some other hints I can give.
Also I'm flying to Hong Kong tomorrow, so it may take me a day or two to recover

Have a good trip, Mark, is it business or pleasure? Hope you get some great photos, possible future subjects for this thread, maybe? I'll have to remember that you've been to Hong Kong!

Yes, I'm going to see my daughter who's teaching out there!

Now, a small clue or two on the photo - it's not in Asia, and it's in a very prosperous small town.

For the avoidance of doubt I should say my Colditz reference was tongue in cheek :-) Now, this one is interesting. I have a picture of a very very similar thing which is outside the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas. I am tempted to say this is in the same area but probably way off.

The other side of the Aria is a sculpture by Henry Moore so obviously this indicates that just because there is one there it doesn't neccessarily dictate the other is also there.

Hmm, just saw the clue. Is Las Vegas a propsperous little town? ;-)

Well now, that's very good and you're getting quite warm.

In fact, you're in the right country, and if you move west to The Edge of the country you'll find mine.

(You'll see what I've done there...)
