Re: 2010 Spring Challenge!
Two using a macro auxiliary lens on the G1 14-45mm kit lens. Easy to use but some chromatic abberation and not bitingly sharp.
Almond Blossom. Always the first in our garden, sometimes tree is in full bloom in February. This is bad news as a late frost damages the crop even though we use horticultural fleece to protect it. This year the tree is only now coming into blossom.

White violets. Our lawn is always full of wild flowers as it is basically an extension of the adjoining nature reserve but in the last couple of years these white violets, which I suspect are a garden escapee, seem to be outnumbering the true wild ones.

Here's a Scilla Siberica (Siberian Squill) - Spring beauty.

Thanks for the gallery comment. In answer to your query: the colour is true to life, it's a bright, light and vibrant blue. It's a rather 'waxy' flower and the rain and reflective daylight adds to the vibrancy. The flower stands out in situ because of the colour.
I think it's from the Hyacinth family and the petals are similar - sort of waxy and shiny, catching any available light. It's the first year we've had them and they came in a special offer pack at the end of last year. They're nice to see so I hope they'll spread. Here's a link

Re: 2010 Spring Challenge!
I hope you don't mind me following so closely with another pic, as these goslings were hatched in the past 24 hours.
Anne and I have been chased and pecked at by the three adults who have raised these young before the eggs were laid.
We didn't have our usual kit today as we had other duties to attend to, however the Canon G11 perfomed quite well here. The three adults were more concerned with the chicks than us, so got reasonably close to take the shots.

Awww that is just so cute! What a lovely, heart-warming sight to see, especially after this prolonged, horrible Winter. Lucky you!Originally posted by Barr1e View PostI hope you don't mind me following so closely with another pic, as these goslings were hatched in the past 24 hours.

BTW - It's a challenge and assignment thread so please feel free to post as much and as often as you like.

Everything off that lens is interesting. I'm as green as that bokeh.Originally posted by Ian View Post
OK, so not very imaginative, but I think mildly technically interesting - taken with a 600mm (equivalent) f/2.8 telephoto lens, @f/2.8. Very limited depth of field
