Re: A few from Hoi An, Viet Nam
Nice candid set there, the type of place I would just be in my element, with images springing up everywhere, did you come across anybody objecting to the photography?
cheers
Ash.

Re: A few from Hoi An, Viet Nam
Thanks for your comments.
The picture of the lantern makers, is one of three.
On the first one, the girl saw me and I got the back of her head, whilst her workmate was looking at the camera, but this is the closer of the images which I caught just as she turned around.
As you can see she is not very pleased at having her photoggraph taken, but I was walking down a main street (so to speak) with people doing their stuff everywhere.
It was VERY colourful and there were images everywhere I looked just waiting to be taken.
These were taken in Feb this year, on an Asian Cruise starting from Hong Kong and calling at Vietnam, Taiwan, Sanya (China). The visits were only for a day in each place as the ship called into the port. The only place we stayed for longer was in Hong Kong where we had a 2 night stay initially and 1 night finally.
It was a very colourful and interesting cruise and I consider myself to be very fortunate that now I am retired we are able to visit all these places.

Re: A few from Hoi An, Viet Nam
I think you could be right there Paul. With my Fuji or the G3 I just have them around my neck and shoot from the waist through the tilt and turn screens.Originally posted by paul.r.w View PostThats cos she hasn't got a dirty great slr pointing at them!
I have remembered that was another reason why I was shying away from a DSLR, because I couldn't pre view the scene through the LCD screen.
If I put my Fuji up to my eye it is very obvious. Of course I do shoot using the optical viewfinder sometimes but you are more easily spotted.

There is always the Olympus E-3 - but the pennies needed have to be saved first. I hope to get one for my 65th and one of its selling points is the screen which can be turned almost every which way.Originally posted by Autumn View PostI think you could be right there Paul. Ah! That sounds like my sort of camera! I thought I had read that there were some DSLR's with a pre view and if it turns every which way, it would be just the job.Originally posted by Barr1e View PostThere is always the Olympus E-3 - but the pennies needed have to be saved first.
