Re: Jolly Boys (and Girls) Outing to Lake District

Castlerigg not far from Keswick is a stone circle and seems to attract a fair few photographers. Its quite comical actually as people jockey for position then some dimbo walks slowly infront of everyone. Anyway the conditions were pretty good and gave us the opportunity to get some shots

It appears that a fine day was had by all. The group shot is very much appreciated and not just for putting names to faces. It also confirms my belief that I am better looking than you lot .

After browsing Mal's gallery I bid him welcome and look forward to seeing more of his work. The 'Redcar Steel' shot in particular held my attention.

That's exactly what I thought. amazingly mirror like. Early in the morning so virtually no wind at all? It looks to me that this picture of yours and the one of Andrew's were both taken at the same lake. It took me a while to find it. The slight difference of the camera position and the focal length difference, along with the airplane, these all give me different impression.
I also looked at the both up side down - yeah, it does is mirror like. Especially Andrew's.
So this is the Lake district. A photogenic place!

Indeed it is Yoshi and I think you would be "blown away" if you were ever to visit. There is some stunning natural beauty, and scenery that can change by the minute as the weather changes. The downside of it all is that firstly it rains too much, and secondly there are too many tourists in the summer months.

Some great images - and I've bookmarked Mal's gallery for later when I have more time and am not supposed to be cooking Sunday dinner!

I'll look forward to the rest of the images....

That's beautiful, Andrew. Excellent colours, textures and movement of the water - all of it just right and very realistic.

Good for her - a lass after my own heart! Get a campervan so she can kip in comfort next time.

I think that is an excellent set of landscape shots you have brought back from that outing Stephen.

I promised myself at least one panorama and the opportunity presented itself when we visited Blea Tarn between Great and Little Langdale. It holds certain memories from my youth for me as it was my first real experience of camping and climbing in the Lake District. You can see the Langdale Pikes in the distance partially covered in cloud. The picture is 1600 pixels wide so to keep the thread structure normal I have posted the thumbnail

Nice ones Ian, did you get a decent shot at Castlerigg? I need to try a couple of HDR shots and see what I get, also have a few decent shots at the falls. That last one at Ullswater seems a little more natural than the previous one you posted, was it a WB issue?

Thanks Stephen. No the first Ullswater one I simple processed to make it look attractive rather than 'as was'

I have quite a few more to do so will be adding them in dribs and drabs.
