Lovely action shot Ian. How did you manage get the cyclist so sharp using a shutter speed of 1/40th @ F8 ( that is if the exif info in the gallery is correct).?
I realise you panned the shot but not showing any blur of the cyclist - what is the secret.?

Could be that the A700 has image stabilizer.

because the guy is heavy braking, he's not pedalling, therefore his pose should be relatively static. although with the rear wheel lifting, there is slight blur at the rear of the bike and the guys feet due to the pivot point being where the front wheel contacts the ground. the upper part of the rider is relatively unaffected as he'll be compensating for the lift of the rear wheel.

the blue thing is indeed a mouthpiece & tube from the camel pack on his back.

          nice shot ian!
i was going to suggest a tighter crop to remove the bright white section on the right, but on trying it, it doesn't make a huge difference and just accentuates the aforementioned blur.

            Hi Ian,
A super and amusing shot, how lucky can you get to be in the right place at the right time, I do wonder though if he has considered how he would cope with comeing off? just think how a small graze hurts, A bit of a nutter IMO.
