I think the most important improvement is the quality of the image in the EVF, which greatly assists in manual focusing. Focus peaking also helps occasionally. Yes I used the dumb adapter with diaphragm. However with this lens the diaphragm can cause vignetting which is not so much of a problem if you intend to crop.
