Re: Post as many as you like

I've been asked if there is a limit to the number of new years photos you can post here - no, it's not a competition, so the more the merrier!

All kinds of characters Stephen. I missed more than I took!
My wife was complaining for being tired of following me hunting characters and I had to slow down my photographic activities

My daughter (aged eight) loves black pudding, but won't eat such "delicacies" as baked beans.........or roast beef. The mind boggles...
I am sorry but it comes from further north originally, does nobody remember Nick Nairn (the celeb chef) being very ill seeing it been made in a wife's scullery a few years ago?

No need to apologise Harry, but you may want to check your sources

There isn't a person alive today who can categorically prove who made the very first black pudding, as in mediaeval times they were made and consumed throughout Europe, and indeed long before that. However Bury is recognised (not that it really matters... ) as the originator of the black pudding simply because it has promoted the dish and developed the recipes for longer than any other claimant or region.

An A to Z of Food and Drink by John Ayto (Oxford University Press) acknowledges this, as do many historical / culinary / cultural authorities on the subject. If this is now subject to debate, we should perhaps collate our research and come up with a definitive spiritual home for the great black pudding..........or perhaps not

Thanks George. Good way of showing a lot of pics. (Must try that software, now the New Year is here). I like to see how different parts of the world celebrate these festivals.

I'd just like to thank all those that posted a picture or more in this thread. I hope you all enjoyed looking at each other's pictures. I'd like to do some more 'a day in the life' threads in the future.

I'm very envious! The news footage of the fireworks was amazing. Every year I say we ought to go to the new years celebrations in London and every year I forget!

Thanks for these, Harry. It didn't look very hospitable there, but through the mist and the rain I can sense a natural beauty trying to get through

Cor - star trail time exposure pictures. Used to do those with black and white home developed film as a teenager. I used to leave the camera in the back garden with the shutter open and kind of feared that the camera would be gone by the time I returned!

I'm going to have a go at this again - the kids will be fascinated for sure!
