Here's my effort. The shot was taken in Venice ("wot, no canals..?") simply because I liked the random and rather inappropriate placement of the boat.

The conversion to mono was done in Photoshop using the channel mixer, followed by curves to boost the contrast. I also added some "grain" and vignetted the corners, before using the red and blue channels in curves to add some toning to the shot.

            Here's mine:

Taken in January last year at the Agora near the foot of the Parthenon at Athens. It's the replica of the Stoa of Attalos, I believe it was built in the 1940s? It gives a great impression of what one of the 5,000 year old buildings would have looked like without the ravages of time. As this was late afternoon on a sunny January day, I was able to enjoy the long and sharp shadows of the pillars in my composition. The Stoa of Attalos is well worth a visit, as is the rest of the Agora, and it doubles as a museum of Ancient Greek artifacts

I'm not sure if this qualifies as "perspective", or even as a photograph, but here it is. It's a photo that was joined to a reverse image of itself, then that was joined to a vertical reverse image of itself. Is that still a photograph?

I'd say so. You used a camera and made an abstract composite of the result, but it's still recognisable as a photograph. I'm actually a fan of well-executed digital art, but when people try to describe images as photographs which are in fact closer to paintings or graphics, I think they're being a tad ambitious. In your case, I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to refer to the above image as a photo

As far as the contest title is concerned, it's something which is fairly open to interpretation. Others before you have taken the word "perspective" literally, while others have adhered to it's meaning in the photographic sense, so you're safe.......I think

I vote for it being allowed!

A very interesting take, my opinion is that all manor of manipulations should be allowed. I think we would be on sticky ground drawing a line on just how far a manipulation can go before it stops being a photograph. Keep it open for freedom of expression I say!

It is worth pointing out however that this Salon is not a democracy It is entirely up to the curator and their decision is final

It's settled, then. I appreciate the comments but will abide by the decision of the curator. I'm just glad it isn't me having to make the decision.
