Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 33 - Exit

I've been thinking about this for days, and I really can't decide what to do... I'd like to upload a photo that I think fits this theme perfectly, but it's not the usual kind of light-hearted image that most of the competition entries are.

It's a graphic picture of a baby that has literally just 'exited' from it's mother, and although in my opinion it fits the theme perfectly, I'm not sure whether it would offend people or not - part of the mother can be seen in the background. I've looked at the forum guidelines and there's nothing there against it, but I was wondering what people thought? The last thing I want to do is cause offence!

I think it is very good of you to ask first.

Personally, I am not offended by that sort of thing, however, I dont feel it is suitable for this forum.

What I would suggest, is maybe convert to black and white, and blur out the 'sensitive' areas?

Ian should obviously have the last say on this.

Your right though, it sounds like a perfect match for the theme.

Phew, I'm glad I asked first, before I uploaded it!

Thanks for the suggestions - the blurring isn't a problem, although it's not really needed as the midwife's arm is fortuitously placed! - but I don't think it works in black and white. Part of the impact for me is the 'starkness' of it and the colour of the baby's skin. The birth process may produce beautiful babies, but the process itself isn't so lovely!

I think on this occasion I won't enter, I'll just enjoy looking at other people's images.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 33 - Exit CLOSED

Well done everyone! These have been some very interesting concepts in exit and lovely photos!

                    So without further delay....

In 3rd place: Pol! With a beautiful close up on leaves reaching for light from the cracks of darkness.

In 2nd place: Ian! I just can't help thinking, "Thank you, please come again." every time I look at it. Good eye on that one.

                    And in 1st place....

                    devilgas ! ! !

Dave, that is such a striking shot, and a good exit! The dark enclosure and exit towards the light. Give me a feeling of needing to reach for that blue. Well done!

                    Good job everyone!

Well done Devilgas, I just knew that would win.

I was going to add a comment about it winning in my post after yours but I didn't, I knew it would win

                      Great picture.
