I realise this isn't the critique forum but I just have to comment -sorry.

I love this one, wonderful lighting and beautiful processing. Some
        lovely skin textures too.

          Hi Ian,

I'm exactly the opposite of you. I like to be on a ship when the weather is heavy. I enjoy very much to be on a ship diving in the water (and coming out of course!). My best heavy sea trip so far has been with these huge Greek ferries doing the trips Greece-Italy. I was returning to Greece from UK driving for Christmas. Took the ferry from Ancona (Italy) to Patra (Greece) with 11 beaufort weather. OK, these ferries are huge and very new (made from 2000 and after). The 120 meter, 8 floor ferry was going up and down, left and right, the sea was climbing on the deck outside of the 7th floor and the wind was whistling like crazy. Many people were afraid though because the waiving was too much even for a big ship like that, so the captain had to open the flaps. The flaps actually behave like stabilizers (not optical image stabilzers of course!) and they actually multiply by 8 the ship's area coming in tough with the water. After the flaps were out it was amazing to see the ship in such a bad weather behave like it was screwed on top of the sea. Really a very nice experience of what new technology can offer.

Anyway, I like heavy sea and I also enjoy that with my little inflatable even better than just speeding on a calm sea.

Lovely picture of a lovely lass - I did initially feel it was too light, but this almost high key style works well in this instance.

Thanks Ian. It was a really basic se in the form of a single, raw strobe bounced off a large white wall, about six feet behind me. For a wide, even spread of light it's quite effective, the only downside being the photographer-shaped sillhouette which is inevitably produced in the catchlights...

I do most of my product photography simply by bouncing a camera mounted flash off the ceiling/wall, like this:

Multiple strobes and brollies will only give a marginal improvement for this purpose. I'm a great fan of simplicity!

Ok but I'm only asking half the price this time seeing as I was the model ...... and you made such a good job of smoothing out my wrinkles.

Seeing Pol's entry, reminded me of an image I took in Visby Sweden. This currency was being blown around inside a glass container outside a Government Building. It fascinated me and I took the photo in case I ever needed a "Movement" image. It wouldn't be any good, as there are too many reflections, but I thought I would show it to you as a bit of fun.

Hey, that's fascinating, especially as it's currency!

The image I entered was actually just a lucky opportunity. I'd already had another shot in mind and was working on it, one from my archives. I'd been beachcombing and was on the way back to the camper when I spotted the leaflet and spent firework being blown along near my feet - so I decided to see if I could manage to grab a shot before or blew out of reach.

                        It was handheld ....

ISO: 200 (lowest possible on an istD)
                        Tamron 28-300 at 63mm
                        Metering: Centre weighted
                        shutter priority: 1/25
                        Aperture: f/32
                        EV: -7

I got lucky with 2 out of about 10. The others all showed camera shake or were overexposed.

Well after a bit of a rethink, cheers Ben I've come up with this shot taken today at a local lake. It was ideal weather for them, and some of the more skilled people were going at a helluva lick

My contribution is a pic I took about 2 years ago of some Tibetan prayer flags.
