  • Fortnightly Salon Competition No15

Thank you Jojo for the running the last Salon and for choosing my picture.

The theme for Salon Number 15 is

    F R E E D O M

Unlike Jojo, I am not going to make any suggestions. I feel there is a vast scope. I only hope that it is not too wide a subject for me to select a winner. So long as it meets the challenge in some form, I shall be happy.

The Salon starts now and will end on Saturday midnight 28th April 2007.

    ............and the Rules

    1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
    2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
    3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
    4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
    5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
    6) The curator's decision is final.
    7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
    9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
    10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

    Good Luck

I have been asked for clarification of the challenge "Freedom."

Absolutely any take on it will do. I do not wish to plant thoughts into your minds, as I wish to give you the "Freedom" to think laterally on this.

I have looked in the dictionary and there are 19 explanations for the word "Freedom", so there is plenty of scope.

I am waiting for the first person to post. I thought it was an easy challenge, but 4 days have now passed and there hasn't been one entry. Come on folks, there is a good prize to be won.

      Over the Aegean Sea.
If I had a second life, I would like to be a seagull, not to have enemies and fly free over the sea.

You could call that "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". I read the book years ago!

What is that book all about?
If you have some link of it Audrey, paste it so I can check it out.
I like seagulls best of all birds and I'm really interesting in them.

Your discussion about seagulls & freedom gave me inspiration for my entry to salon 15 Freedom, thanks! It is a composite of my fine art (photographed) & my photography! Amandla! A South African group sang a song titled 'The seagulls name was Nelson'!

Here is my idea of freedom - a boathouse. Not so great in the winter maybe, but in the summer you could travel around the coast, and always have a lovely sea view!

I've only had my SLR a couple of months, and I'm still getting used to it but having a lot of fun doing so! I wish I'd put the boat a bit more in the centre now, why do I always think of these things afterwards?!

                      Hello all,

In America when a soldier dies a flag is draped over his or her casket then before it is lowered into the ground the flag is removed folded and handed to the widow or surviving family.Soldiers give their lives daily so we can have freedom from terrorists. the yellow ribbon reminds us to remember our troops. and in America the bald eagle is a Symbol of Freedom and is our national bird.
