Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

Ok, I don't think I stand a chance. But here. This is an older photo of mine. Taken early last year some time.

This will teach me to never pass a moment. Once, on this same bike trail that I took this shot from, I was biking on my way to work and running late. And the scene I passed was the other side of this bridge, was all the arches of the bridge. This bridge was made with arches set up looking like dominos ready to be tips. Well while I was biking past that morning the times was just right that the sun was glinting off the river up into the arches and it made them look lit with the most amazing silvery gold ripples all the way down.

I didn't get the picture cause I though I'd end up late for work. I never saw it do that again.

And is that a good or a bad thing, in your opinion..?

Still, at least it's not Uncle John mowing the lawn last June, or even worse......a set of sales stats for the month ending November 2006

Something for our four footed friends - a rope bridge

Had to search hard to find one.
This is a section of Gateshead Milenium Bridge, shot a longwhile back with my compact.

              Excellent Subject!

OK here is my one, for those who havent seen this when I posted it last year, what you can see here is the result of light pollution. In the UK sodium lamps are used to light the majority of towns and the town causing this orange glow is around 4 to 5 miles away!

A long exposure exagerates the effect over this little bridge

This is the bridge of Rio-Antirio 200km west of Athens. It is the bigest cable bridge in the world with 2.8Km length. It can stand 11 Richter scale eartquake and any of its bases can stand a 250.000 tons oil tanker impact.

Regards & Merry Christmas to all.

                  Re: Kingston deliver!

Autumn has informed me that the Kongston 2GB Ultimate high-speed SD card she won as a prize for her salon win last week has arrived in time for Christmas.
So well done Kingston for beating the seasonal deadline!

Don't forget the winner of the next salon, which Autumn set the theme of 'bridges' for, nets another Kingston 2GB Ultimate card.

Yes and she has also received her new Panasonic FX01 to go with the new SD 2Gb Card Prize, - well a girl's got to have a treat sometime, hasn't she.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

Here is my first entry into the Salon. Looking at the other entrants this has no chance for the prize but it was exciting getting the image and doing the post processing to try and make it look better.

This was taken with a "point and shoot" digital camera at X'000 feet as we came in to San Francisco at the beginning of November. I was surprised to get the shot far less post it here, but my OH says I should. So here goes!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you all

As my first kick at the cat, here's the Forth Road Bridge, scanned from a slide I shot in 1976.

Hi Ray, how did you scan that? The colours look rather mauve to me? I'm wondering if it's the age of the original (slide or neg?) or a consequence of the colour balance when it was scanned.

Hmmm... I need to recalibrate my monitors. I scanned those slides into my laptop and uploaded the image from there, but it comes back with a purple shift on my desktop unit....
