Never worry about what sort of camera you use for the Salon shots. Don't be unduly concerned about the 'quality' of the shot either.

The Salon (exhibition) is all about interpretation of the theme - having fun, interpreting a theme and visually communicating your own interpretation - not necessarily requiring a lengthy verbal explanation ......ie ideally a picture that can 'stand on its own' within the context of the theme.

I don't always use a shot off my dSLR either. I just enjoy considering the theme and trying to offer an individual slant. That's the way I view and enjoy Salon themes myself anyway - also a motivation to try to go about getting a fresh shot for each theme if at all possible as that's the fun part for me.

Belatedly thought that I might add this to the 'Bridge' competition. Just a serene location in Thailand.

Here is an alternative version for the Salon - avoiding embarrassing colour shifts....

Yes, see my last note Ian. I'm not sure. I don' think it's a change in the Kodachrome slide. Last time I checked my computers were much better matched in colour balance. I need to recalibrate them.....ray

Hmmm... I need to recalibrate my monitors. I scanned those slides into my laptop and uploaded the image from there, but it comes back with a purple shift on my desktop unit....

Hi Ray, how did you scan that? The colours look rather mauve to me? I'm wondering if it's the age of the original (slide or neg?) or a consequence of the colour balance when it was scanned.

Here is my first entry into the Salon. Looking at the other entrants this has no chance for the prize but it was exciting getting the image and doing the post processing to try and make it look better.

This was taken with a "point and shoot" digital camera at X'000 feet as we came in to San Francisco at the beginning of November. I was surprised to get the shot far less post it here, but my OH says I should. So here goes!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you all

So well done Kingston for beating the seasonal deadline!

Don't forget the winner of the next salon, which Autumn set the theme of 'bridges' for, nets another Kingston 2GB Ultimate card.

This is the bridge of Rio-Antirio 200km west of Athens. It is the bigest cable bridge in the world with 2.8Km length. It can stand 11 Richter scale eartquake and any of its bases can stand a 250.000 tons oil tanker impact.

Regards & Merry Christmas to all.
