DP Now Salon Competition 96 - Straight from the Camera!
Re: DP Now Salon Competition 96 - Straight from the Camera!
Resized but that was it.
Hmm, obviously not quite got the hang of this yet
(Ian says: you posted a thumbnail version, I just edited the link, removing the word thumbnail from the url and now it displays the full size image. Are these otters from Nigeria?)
Just because cliches are cliches does not make them wrong. I do like walking in the rain.
Re: DP Now Salon Competition 96 - Straight from the Camera!
Just to clarify, I think wsearfoss means that images should be un-edited from the camera, but it's impractical to post full size images, so I'm sure resizing for Web display is acceptable:
For landscape format images, I recommend resizing to 800 pixels wide. Light sharpening after resizing is a good idea as resizing does soften images.
For portrait or vertical format images, I recommend 700 pixels high.
Keep your images to no more than around 200K (JPEG compression) for a good balance between size and visual quality.

Thanks Ian. So what am I doing wrong then?? Totally confused. I uploaded to the gallery and then did what I thought it said to do. Ah well, I'll get the hang of it
Not from Nigeria mate, no. Shot at home last leave.

Re: DP Now Salon Competition 96 - Straight from the Camera!
We have just returned from a fairly relaxing holiday at Centre Parcs @ Sherwood Forrest Nottinghamshire, I took my d90 and I took my panasonic Tz5, I took many shots with both camera's of varying subject matter with this particular salon in mind over the coarse of the week we were there, and this shot from the Tz5 taken of a firework display across the lake gave the most impact straight from the cam.
Camera settings were: iso 800, 1/10 sec, f3.3, 16x9 mode, firework scene mode and rested against a tree for stability.
Re: DP Now Salon Competition 96 - Straight from the Camera!
This was taken just after sunset - I'd been for a walk with my daughter down Butterfly Lane, about half a mile outside the village, to get some sunset shots. However, it was on the walk home that I spotted this, which is a familiar theme in my photography. I've taken this view in all kinds of weather, and it's only about 200 yards from my house. There are advantages in being the last house in the village in that I can be out in the countryside very quickly!
Unedited, apart from resizing - if it wasn't for this salon I might have tried to bring up the foreground a little so that the sheep are more visible!

Straight out of the camera.
Web resized with slight sharpening.
The finished pic is over on dpnow's sister site www.fourthirds-user.com. (Anne + E-5 pix)

I took this shot of a Canada Goose in Riverain Park (Ottawa, Canada) this morning. The weather was overcast, so the lighting was not the best, but it seems to have turned out well enough.
