I love this little fella, but hate the photo, I took it quick and will not be able to get back to take another one. I realy don't know where to start to try and claim a decent photo, and wondered if anyone would advise or should I just cut my losses and ditch the photo

Don't ditch the photo!
I will try to fix it for you if you want me to.
Just inform me if you want me to do it, post here another version and if you like it, then I will do the same at the full size photo.

Hi
Just spent a couple of minutes on the picture, Cropped, altered the contrast and darkened the two light corners.
Not a master piece, but it does now feature the subject a lot more.
I actually have no idea, I was with friends going round colchester zoo, and where I should have made notes, of who I was photographing I was being fast marched round, they did not seem to understand time to take a photo.

but I do think he is cute
While I was studying at Essex University in Colchester, didn't spot any of those around all these 4 years I was there, nor in the zoo.
It looks like some "Gizmo" thing like in these Gremlins movie if I'm not mistaken.

I was there last year september, I know from some of the stuff I managed to read they have been doing quite a bit of work there.
was the white tiger there when you were there?

I agree he looks like a cute gremlin
I didn't see any white tiger when I was there in 2004. I really cannot confirm that it was there or not, just because I didn't see it myself.
As a gold-card holder for Colchester Zoo I can assure you the white tiger is still there - he's been there a few years now. Weather & sciatica permitting I'll be at the zoo for a shoot tomorrow and I'll see if I can get a decent shot of him.
You're right about work being done at the zoo, several new enclosures have been built or are being built and I believe they have also purchased some adjacent land for further expansion.

Stuart,
What is the name of that old guy (I have forgotten it by now, maybe it was Peter) with the glasses working in Jessops in the town center across from JJB Sports and slightly further down?
He was very helpfull every time I was going there for my photographic buys.
