Experimenting with mounting an old GoPro Hero3+ on my racing snowboard. I used suction cups and they seemed to work. This is a screen capture from a video taken on a cloudy day. Next I'll try it with my new GoPro Hero 8 which has superb image stabilization..

At Easter 2018 I was in Thailand to visit some family (my father remarried a Thai) and it was Song Kran time - a water festival at the hottest time of the year where everyone happily and enthusiastically throw water at each other!

This required the use of my own action cam (a Yi 4K+

One of them is a selfie (to fit in the topic of the thread) and the rest give a sense of the occasion

I have an underwater housing for it. I think GoPros are splash-proof without the need for a housing although the Yi one only makes it slightly larger than the camera.

I've used it snorkelling mounted on a mask

Older GoPros like the 3+ on the left required housings to prevent water damage. My Hero 5 didn't but unfortunately I left it in Botswana. The newly acquired Hero 8 (shown on the right) is waterproof down to 10 meters without a housing. It has the added advantage of a view screen. It's also smaller and lighter.

I tried the Hero8 today on the widest view setting. It's shot in 4K and 60 fpm. Despite getting bounced around a lot, the display isn't jerky. This is my fifth GoPro and it's a vast improvement over earlier models.

And this ski run is on your doorstep ? How lucky are you. Camera worked well, considering the bumping and jarring.

We live less than a half mile from the mountain. This morning made a run with the camera mounted on my right ski and did a composite of snowboarding and skiing. The top shot was taken in SuperView. The bottom one on the middle setting. The GoPro will zoom in even closer.

Impressed ! Like the clarity, colour and contrast. Are these straight from the camera? or have they have much processing ?
