Cleaning the bird feeders when my wife brought my attention to this, dashed to get the camera and macro lens, its about an inch long. Shot off a few quick frames then tried to get closer but it flew away.
Excellent capture Patrick - another one with the Sigma 105 f2.8. As I said in a previous post, I just can't get to grips with this lens and rarely achieve a good sharp shot
And so jealous of you with the 7D!

Are you using Auto Focus?
I find with macro work where you focus is important, the depth of field is so shallow. For this reason I tend to use manual focus and choose precisely the spot I think will give best overall focus.
In this case I focused on the head, used f11, and had the camera on a tripod.
