And the interesting thing is given that until i print out a hard copy of one of my images taken with my D700, none of it is real, nothing solid to hold onto its just all pixels and code.
The answer to these questions is simple, however much it is twiddled and diddled it is not yours to twiddle and diddle with, and using it is more than likely a breach of copyright. It will say on the box or on boot up or both, copying in part or whole is a breech of copyright or something similar, probably in stronger terms with dire warnings of criminal actions.
The original that is manipulated and played with is still based on someone else's work and still their copyright.

Simple an image was screen grabbed from a Xbox game if I read the post correctly, its therefore copyright. If an image was used with elements from the Xbox game the same applies. If I am in error I apologize.

You maybe right in that, they do stamp a Forza logo on everything you take. Im sure i cant print that in game shot on a mug and sell them.
But I have no way brought up this topic in this thread, just wondering why you made the comment Im just talking about the creative side of making images and it being your own work as in making it, not having copyright.

I mentioned it because its very easy to break copyright law quite innocently, posting it to the forum amounts to publishing. Xbox if they should see it may take the view of it being harmless fun, on the other hand they may have no sense of humor.

Bearing in mind I posted a positive remark to the image originally.
Not having ever used an Xbox game or any other computer based game I didn't like others pick up on this until you mentioned it yourself.
However I still contend that whatever creative additives made it remains based on another's original work, namely the game writers. So your work becomes an addition rather than a creation.

Well the makers of the game put in a photo mode that lets you upload it to the net, then download to use. So i think their intention was to get the images you make out in the world. There are thousands of these images all over the net. Im sure if you make money out of them that would get their backs up, but for normal forum and webpage use they have no problem.

Re: Your thoughts on this one

I have this game and I knew the image is computer generated. You're right about it is not 'real'. In fact nothing IS Everything we 'see' are actually a self projection within our 'heads', the 'photon' that falls on an object could only seen by you and nobody else. Take a look at this clip:

Re: Your thoughts on this one

I initially thought that the Critique section was a funny place to post this image in the first place; perhaps Andrew was having a little fun to see if he could catch us out.
More importantly though, it has now managed to distract the attention of the hordes of members queueing up to reply to my humble submission

Re: Your thoughts on this one

Patrick, was it a bad night at bingo? I sense your frustration but I think most people on the forum could see it was a fun little project to see a reaction on the result!
If you can not accept the initial intention then its unfair to give such a negative attidude to the picture. You should try the game its really quite good, but not as good as need for speed shift
If you take a picture of a building that has only the building in it, am I to assume that the desighner of that building has sole rights to your picture?

Rights to a picture or image is that of the image taker unless humans are involved in which case you need a signed model release form. Not quite sure how the papers get away with this one!

I respect your work and love to see your pictures, but maybe going into so much depth scares people from posting in the critique section.

Ok Im guilty of being touchy in the past but if you comment on the picture as it stands for what it is, then everyone is happy!
