    Re: New Laptop

good stuff, more. laptops are more prone to disasters since there are light and portable. i had a shelf holding books fall on one once. i seen another in a student's backpack drown from a smashed water bottle. as cameras progress, files are becoming larger consuming much more space. when i shoot Hasselblad, it takes huge amounts of space. a 40 megapixal shot weighs in around 150mb. any one know the Drobo system.

I don't know anything about it, but have just watched the promotional video, if it will do what it says then "WOW" what a system, makes my Buffalo look prehistoric.

Very expensive, but HERE'S something that might tempt rich Photoshop users. Especially if you can use one screen for the pallettes, and one for image.

I too am confused, whats this machine got to do with an iPad different target market altogether. These marketing guys do come up with the biggest load of you know what at times.

haven't done anything with the raid yet but i'm being forced to soon. shot a big job with the hasselblad the other night, ouch. when i shot PPG (Pittsburgh Paint Group) national ad in July for next year, i did three custom cars with extreme paint jobs. the shoot lasted four hours and consumed 35+ gb. some people worry about on site only storage. with the Drobo with four hot swappable drives it would seem that you pull one or two and take them home at night. LaCie has a good looking 4TB raid also.
