Generaly the pictures were poor, NOT MAY I ADD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CAMERA but with me the photographer.

Very impressed with the niose supression the attatched picture taken in the house Mackintosh designed, was exposed using available light 800ISO 1/40 @ f2.8.

That fireplace remonds me of the one at home when I was a nipper, it's very similar.
The mantleshelf looks odd though. Looks like a modern wooden shelf well out of sync with the fire and oven

I note that you used an aperture of f/2.8 - which lens were you using out of interest?

            Re: Canon 40D - 2

There's been so much discussion around this camera and having read a lot of it I am still not exactly certain what it is that sets it apart from say the 30D which is cheaper. You certainly don't get any answers by looking on the Jessops site. Would anyone care to do a quick list suitable for the more simple minded. (You can leave out things that don't go towards actually producing a better image eg. grips and LSD screens and other convenience things.)

                Indeed it is.

It makes the colours more vibrant.

Which got me thinking of mushrooms ....

It's a badger, badger, badger, badger, mushroom, mushroom. Badgers dance up and down out in a field.

If Canon had anyone particular in mind when they designed that 40D + LSD screen ..... yo da man, Stuart.

OK OK cut it now - it was a slip of the finger nothing more nothing less - and certainly nothing to do with me head which is still puzzling over all this D40 hype

I'm not a Canon user but I've just been away doing a comparison between the 30D and 40D.

                        Here's a link showing the side-by-side comparison.

Briefly and as far as I can see - more megapixels, more sensor detectors and slightly faster continuous drive and buffer.

I guess you'd add live view and a larger LCD screen to POL's list of major features.

I've never owned a 30D so I'm not 100% sure but I think the menu system is improved and now matches that found on the pro Canon models and the 40D is better sealed against the elements.

The 40D also uses the new Digic III processor (as opposed to Digic II on the 30D) which I'm led to believe offers improvements in image quality as well as the continuous drive speed that Pol has already mentioned (or is that down to a bigger buffer?).

Highlight Tone Priority also looks interesting although I'm struggling to get evidence that it actually helps Joe Public that much - although some pro wedding togs are waxing lyrical about it so it's probably just me!
