Have placed 4 photographs here but first a couple of things about the canon 40D which I find a bit of a nuisance at the moment. No doubt I will get used to it as I become more familiar with the handling.
1. The power on/off control is right at the bottom of the casing at the back and is a bit fiddly. It is positioned in an indent of the casing no doubt to prevent it being switched on accidently. It requires the tip of a finger to operate.
2. The control information diplay is displayed in the top panel and not on the screen. Bit of a nuisance if, like I mostly do for my bird shots, you are sitting down with the viewfinder at eye level. It means the camera must be tilted when a change is made to allow visual observation or you must stand up.
(With the 400D the readout is visible on the rear screen so camera position could remain static while making changes and you could clearly see the change being made.) Having said that aperture, shutter speed and ISO are visible through the viewfinder, neverthe less it is still an inconvenience because you need then to reposition the camera on the point of focus. This could result in missing some shots. If metering, white balance or the a/f point is being altered you really need to see the panel. A good thorough knowledge of the controls may relieve some of this problem. For instance: after only an hour of use I was able to adjust shutter speed without moving my eye from the viewfinder. I can't imagine being able to do that with any other adjustment because buttons need to be pressed prior to making any adjustment.
Early days yet but the ISO is well worth a mention. Noise has been drastically
reduced as you will see below.
.
Resized only ...f5.6 1/400 ISO = 640

Resized only...f5.6 1/800 ISO = 1000

f 5.6 1/160 ISO 400

f 5.6 1/250 ISO 400
