Hi Brenda, and welcome to the DPNow forum. You have taken the most difficult step I reckon in introducing yourself and posting a few photos, so well done you.

Please feel free to contribute in any way you want to the forums, perhaps get stuck into the Salon Competition, and please don't feel your stuff isn't good enough. Just checked out your gallery so far and they definately are, so go for it.

You'll soon get used to the regulars here, but watch out for that young guy Lumix, I'm not too sure he is ready for digital yet

The S5000 is a fine little camera that produces better quality pictures than you might realise

i found this site whilst googling, but cant remember what now ..
i was reg on another site it was american but i just couldnt get to grips with it,nearly all photo topics were twisted to revolve around sex & so therefore never seem to get any actual proper photographic advice so think i'll give it a miss & stay here...

im having look around but when you click to members gallery pics you cant seem to leave a written comment just a vote or am i missing something ?

            Hi Brenda
Great to have another Londoner on the forums. Like you I have also just bought my first dSLR after using film 35mm for years and latterly a stand and point - agree its a whole lot more difficult to get your head around - but you get great tips here so keep on visiting!!
            cheers
            sue
PS I live in north london - North Finchley to be precise - its great up there but the whole of London offers so much for the photographer and now with digital you can get it almost for free

ah your lucky then you have access to some better sights nearer london. not much around where i live so im getting bit limited & now winters coming trying to get hubby out at weekends with the car is going to be nightmare he likes to stay in the warm ..poor luv he's just hit 40 so is depressed
trying to get through the autum / winter months are best for me to get to grips with my pics ..he aint having none of it, & now the girls are starting to take a bit more of an interest in their photos to.

i love the digital i can snap away into the hundreds & it isnt going to cost anything

Always worth a look if the weathers clear , you can shoot both the Dome and canary wharf from the top by the Wolfe memorial.
                    Watch out for tourists

Hi Brenda, welcome to the forum. I see you use a Fuji s5000. I had one of those and sometimes regret selling it. Mine gave me my first taste of digital and most of the pictures I took with it are still stored on my computer. I've looked at your web site and got to say you have a good approach to photography. This site you will find is very friendly and full of good advice. There are a few cheeky youngsters on here (I won't mention any names) but being a mum I'm sure you can handle them.

Geee thanks Bigbob. Now you know when I was a lad I was taught to respect my elders. What you youngsters have got to learn is that you age quicker than us oldens. ie if I was 10 when you were 1 I'd be 10 times your age, but by the time you are 10 I'd be 20 only twice your age. So at that rate you will be b'old be for me
