  • Hello from west wales

    Hi
This is my first time so be gentle please.
I started taking photos years ago, just holiday nothing special.
Then cometh the digital camera and things changed for ever, thats when I really got into things. Living in wales and by the sea there are a lot of things to take, and this year I made my first trip to the u.s. which was amazing.
I have a samsung digmax s600 which I like, it does what it says on the box!

Welcome to a fine place to help with yer photo's. I also live by the sea in Shetland and we have had lots to photograph with our recent storms, but I was unable to get out. Please post some Welsh coastal scenes as we have not been there and I would love to see what we are missing!

Hi coastiekel. It's good to see someone here from my ancient homeland (though I'm several generations removed). My only personal experience with Wales has been a few memorable days in Llanelli which wasn't long enough to be able to pronounce in properly . I'm looking forward to seeing some of my ancestral home from you.

                Re: Hello from west wales

Now that's a coincidence! I was born and raised and have lived most of my life in the western Canadian province of Saskatchewan, but in 1974 I spent a few days in Llanelli on the way back from a visit to Africa. I spent one whole day walking for miles through the countryside taking pictures with my new 35 mm camera, and met a few wonderful people. One thing that struck me was how small most things were, even the houses. The doorway of one old house I was invited into was at least a foot shorter than I was.

I'm ashamed to say that the Welsh tradition of singing hasn't been passed on to me. I play bass in a fun band with friends and have been banned from singing.

So, how do you pronounce Llanelli? Is it spellable?

This may not be 100% accurate, but I think the phonetic spelling for Llanelli would go something like this: 'Clannethlee'

                    Hi Blank Page
Talk about coincidence! I play the sax and keyboards.
I was way out west only two mths ago in a place called Pyramid Lake in Nevada, well worth a visit. A relative of mine was a missionary on the Paiute Reservationhttp://www.plpt.nsn.us/ around 50 years ago. I've posted some photos on this site.
It was truly a trip of a life time, I'm hoping to go back sometime next year.
Any way it was good to get a reply of you

                    All the best

                      Welcome Coastie
I've been meaning to visit Wales for many years but have never made it although I live as close by as London (well for the last 10 years anyway - before that I was in Africa). My Dad was brought up in a place called Prestaton - would you know it?
