Hi John and welcome to the DPNow forum! Glad you got the registration sorted

Dorset is a lovely part of the world - I have some friends in Sherborne.

I know you are interested in getting a new DSLR, but do you currently have an SLR as well as the compacts? It's not clear in your intro. Do you have some pictures to post in the Image Insight section of the forum or the gallery?

I'm hoping to get a production Olympus E-400 in to test soon. There aren't really any 'poor' lenses in the Digital Zuiko range, so if the new kit lenses disappoint, it will be a first.

          Hello tarzieboy

You got one of my my favorite cameras (FZ5). I have it too and still take with it some really nice shots.
          Welcome to the forum.

            Hi tarzieboy,
I envy you if you can play the keyboards – always wish I'd learned. The E400 looks very dinky. I'm sure like me, you'll find an dSLR easier to use than a compact.

                Hi tarzieboy,
Must be 40 years since I went through Ringwood. Used to be a great transport cafe there but I suppose it's gone now.

Hi pops, yes , all changed now, no transport cafe, but still a nice little place quiet with a fair amount of interesting shops, a camera shop called forest photo, busy in the summer with visitors , but rather quiet now as the colder weather approaches three supermarkets, when i get my olympus 400 (as i hope)
i,ll get some shots in bournemouth or poole, big hot air ballon in bournemouth going up & down all day , very colourful, also getting quiet now that the holiday season is over,,, john (tarzieboy)
