Had this forum recommended to me today when Talk Talk decided to wield an axe to their community forums. I rcognise a few names already and expect to see a few more familiar faces shortly...

I'm a happy snapper at heart but am trying to get better but having to earn a crust don't get much chace to do much except when I'm on holiday, but I do like to dabble with macro in the Garden.

I try but there are a few others in the Tiscali / Talk Talk forum that produce some amazing bird and landscape shots that I'd love to emulate and I've seen some very good work here in the little time I've been browsing the board.

Your Salon competition looks like a good place to get your feet wet.

Hi Rab and welcome to the DPNow forums, you are very welcome and I'm pretty sure you will get on OK here. I too am an ex Lineone/Tiscali/TalkTalk forum member. You may not remember me as I jumped ship many years ago and have been here ever since.

I'd encourage you to consider putting some of your photography in our gallery, you get plenty of free space and it enables you to link directly to them in the forums instead of simply attaching them. there is plenty of help though if you need it.

Hi Rab,

Good to see you here. A very warm welcome too.

The message board works in a similar way to the 'other place' - except that attachments over here don't show as a full sized photo. That's because there's a gallery available to registered members so that you can use that for uploading any picci you want to include in a thread.

The gallery pics have a coding beneath them so you can either use that or click to open the 'My Pics' link which is underneath the smilies list. When My Pics opens - you'll see the photos you've uploaded to your gallery. Choose 'original image' and 'inline' from the drop-down menu of the my pics window - click on the picci you want to include in a thread and that'll do it for you - quick and easy.

There's a User Test Forum HERE which is great for playing around and testing the forum and gallery software. Just start your own thread and experiment with things until you get the hang of it.

Maybe I don't have the hang of this site yet.

The 'Other place' seems to be coming to some kind of compromise but who knows how long it will last.

Rebooted and everything working properly for the moment - hope it stays that way!

The user test forum is a sub-forum under "DPnow Noticeboard" - second category down on the Forum Index page. I agree it's not easy to spot, that's why I try to remember to post a link from time to time.

Ok - to send a PM - click on the user name above the avatar then choose 'send PM' from the options. The other way to do it is to click on user profile then go to the 'contacts tab ... where you should find 'send PM'

Got the PM sorted thanks but puzzled.
How did you get to my album?

The only way I can get to it is through the User CP.
If I search under members I come up with a blank
