The National Coal Mining Museum for England hosts a symposium
Re: The National Coal Mining Museum for England hosts a symposium
I actually visited the NCM a couple of weeks ago to see Bulmers exhibition "Northern Soul" which had been heavily publicised on local TV. There were some great photos which really brought home something of Northern life and the coal mining industry in the early sixties. One of the photos was of two northern lasses with their curlers in, covered in a headscarf. BBC Look North traced one of the ladies, now retired, and the other one, her sister was in Australia and they spoke together on the phone.
For anyone who lives within travelling distance, the National Coalmining Museum is well worth a visit
