It's a view of the wake of ferry, but look at it more closely and you will see it is much more than just a simple snapshot. See Archangel's picture now and ask yourself if you are up to the task of being selected for the DPNow POTD too. All you need to do is exhibit your pictures on the free DPNow photo gallery and maybe we'll be in touch!

Well done on your POTD George, it was a nice idea for a shot.
I think it would have been really great if we had been able to see the island in the distance from where you had come but I appreciate these things often don't all come together at the right time

Hi Stephen and thanks for liking my idea of this shot.
I do have a photo leaving the island behind but at that moment it was early afternoon, strong sunshine and no girl reading a book in the deck in front of me and under 44 Celcius degrees.
As you said: "things often don't come together at the right time".

Well I kinda liked the way the reader was relaxing with a book as she sailed off into the 'wild blue yonder' - also liked the way the sunlight is a sort of 'reading lamp' shining on the book.
The top bar of the rails interestingly seems totally level with the horizon (almost impossible you would imagine on a ferry!) and sort of replaces it.
Pol's description of the sun becoming a reading lamp is great.
The simple ones are always the best.

Hi Pol,
Thanks for commenting. Indeed the entire picture is based on the feeling of relaxation. The sunlight "reading lamp" effect is nice, but I'm a little lucky too because the late afternoon time helped a lot with that.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for commenting too and I'm glad you observed the top ferry bar being totaly aligned with the horizon, because this what I was trying to do mostly in that photo. The rest was already there, but I wanted to align the horizon, just slightly visible above the metal bar. That was the hardest part for me since, even the weather was calm, ships always have a slight swiveling left and right, up and down.
