Re: Canon announces The EOS 1000D

Just reading this, and I find this statement a bit of a confusing one:

At 10 mp, I would expect to print at least A4, not up to A4. Surely, it would also depend on the crop whether it was still printable at A4?

Is it just me or does this seem a bit of a back wards move compared to the 450d.How old is the 450d that new camera seems to have come out of nowhere. Are canon trying to make up for the 1d mk3 and hoping to take the market by storm.

I can't quite see the marketing logic behind this model either - it's too close to the 400/450D surely? Also an out-of-the-blue announcement as far as I'm concerned - did anyone know this was coming?

Mind you, if Canon want to suddenly announce a cheap full-frame model I'd be interested....I've been expecting news on the 5D replacement but haven't seen anything yet (not looked hard lately mind).

isn't the 3 fps (max) a step backwards? given the 1000 is using the digic 3 processor, it seems the frame rate is deffo throttled back by the firmware.

looking at the stats on dpreview and comparing it to the 450d, it has a smaller telly, less megapixies, slower frame rate, has fewer focus points and is more expensive

maybe it's the camera that time forgot?
