Anyone (Ian) know anything about this lens. I was thinking of getting the 70-300 Nikon one but this looks interesting. I've got the 18-135 Nikon kit lens at the moment. The Nikon would have anti-shake and I guess the Tamron doesn't, any recommendations?

All I would say is that a lens of such extreme focal length zoom range is bound to be more of an optical compromise than most. If you don't need tack sharp, distortion free images and you need to travel light, with one lens instead of two or three, this kind of lens is for you. The Nikon 180-200 VR is the obvious alternative and I've heard good feedback about this lens, but it is likely to be more expensive than the Tamron.

Yes, I've heard good things about the Nikon 18-200 as well, but it is expensive and hey, I got an slr so I could change lenses...didn't I? LOL
