  • DPNow Picture of the day, Friday, August 24th 2007

Today's featured photographer travelled from one side of the USA to the other to find this shot; a glorious late afternoon sun-lit sand dune scene in coastal New England. I really like this picture PJ, there is something about sand and evening light. Its looks as if it had not long since rained here which adds to the textures. I visited Provincetown in '04, and actually climbed the tower. Wish I'd had the time to explore the dune area more

Thanks Stephen for the kind words. Yes, it had rained earlier in the day when a thunderstorn rolled over.

If anyone is interested here is the exif for the shot:
      f/8, 1/125. ISO 100, 12mm. Shot in RAW format.

      Thanks so much!

A beautiful shot. The lighting is perfect for picking up the shadows and details of the sand.

I can also imagine how those dunes are forever shifting and how that must also change the way the fence is sometimes buried more than at other times. The image suggests those 'shifting sands' very nicely for me.
