  • Pentax reveals K100D Super and AF200FG flash

Pentax has announced an upgraded K100D DSLR, dubbed the 'Super', but resists the temptation to jump from six megapixels to the expected ten. But the K100D Super is compatible with Pentax new generation SDM lenses and retains Pentax's in-body Shade Reduction system, There is also a new, affordable, dedicated flash unit, the AF200FG.

I think it's interesting that Pentax has stuck to the 6MP sensor for the K100D Super. Many reviewers will applaud this as it should, in theory, mean better dynamic range and noise characterstics than the 10MP sensor now used, for example, in the Nikon D40x. Nikon, too, went with the 6MP part for the original D40, but it didn't take long for the x model with the 10MP sensor.
